A Beautiful Ribble Valley Journey: Ben & Izzy’s Wedding at Clitheroe Clock Tower & The Spread Eagle Sawley

There is something incredibly special about a wedding day that takes you on a mini tour of Lancashire's most beautiful spots. Ben & Izzy’s gorgeous Ribble Valley wedding did exactly that! They began their day with an intimate ceremony at the historic Clitheroe Clock Tower, followed by a beautiful, relaxed reception at The Spread Eagle in Sawley.
As a Ribble Valley wedding photographer, my goal is always to make the camera feel like a friend rather than a distraction. Ben and Izzy were initially a little nervous about being photographed, but by focusing on real, unscripted moments, we captured a gallery that perfectly reflects their beautiful connection.
They were kind enough to leave a lovely review about their experience, proving that your wedding photos can be completely stress-free!
Overcoming Camera Nerves Before the Big Day
"My wife and I couldn’t recommend Jane highly enough. From our very first meeting at the pre-wedding shoot, she immediately made us feel calm and at ease, especially as we were both a little nervous about having our photos taken. On the wedding day itself, Jane continued to create such a relaxed atmosphere and gave us brilliant guidance that helped capture the best possible shots."
Feeling a bit nervous before stepping in front of the lens is completely normal! That is exactly why I love capturing pre-wedding sessions. It gives us a chance to hang out, chat, and get rid of those camera jitters long before the main event. By the time you are walking out of the Clitheroe Clock Tower as newlyweds, you’ll be completely relaxed, allowing for natural, authentic wedding photos that show your true smiles.
Magical Portraits at Sawley Abbey & A Riverside Reception
After the ceremony, we headed over to the stunning remains of Sawley Abbey for their couple portraits. This English Heritage site provides an incredible, atmospheric backdrop for a documentary-style approach. The historic stone arches and green surroundings gave us plenty of variety for creative, beautiful portraits with absolutely no forced posing or fuss.
From there, it was a short stroll over to The Spread Eagle Sawley for their wedding reception. Situated right on the banks of the River Ribble, this cosy, iconic coaching inn is the perfect location for a relaxed party filled with good food, laughter, and stunning riverside views.
A Seamless, Stress-Free Experience from Start to Finish
"All of the photos were sent over promptly through a simple and easy-to-use online link, which made the whole process seamless. Throughout everything, Jane was also incredibly approachable and easy to contact on WhatsApp whenever we had any questions.
The whole experience was professional, personal, and completely stress-free from start to finish. We’re so grateful for the beautiful photos and the amazing service."
